Devin Foreman 6’0 225 1B/DH
Spotlight is not what he wanted; fortunately, he has earned it. Since he walked through the doors of 49th and Cottage Grove, Devin Foreman has been a force to be reckoned with. He has been a 4 year starter and a 2 year captain. He has been an integral part of 2 Regional Championship teams (’04, ’05), and has recently signed a letter of intent to attend John A. Logan Community College in the fall.
Like any student-athlete, Devin would love to win a state championship. Having seen the basketball program’s consistent successes (state championships in ’03 and ’05), what warm-blooded kid wouldn’t want to hoist the Illinois state championship trophy over his head? But, the love of the game is what drives Devin.
His work ethic is a reminder to baseball players of old. He hits, and hits, and hits some more. Then he works on his defense, ground ball after ground ball. If he had it his way, he would be drafted within the top 5 to 10 rounds and make a living doing what he loves. For now, he carries a very young team with his voice and his actions.
During the off-season, if there is an off-season for Devin, he hits the weights as much as he hits the ball. He spent the past summer playing in the Area Code Games with some of the Midwest’s top prospects.
His stock soared as he put on a power exhibition at Triton Community College, so the draft is a strong possibility. He will spend this summer playing with the Illinois Orioles, a traveling team run by former major leaguer John Cangelosi.
Devin has a lifetime batting average of .410, pounding out 11 HR and driving in 110 runs. Last year, he hit .505 with 10 doubles, 8 triples, and 5 HR while driving in 40 runs and was selected as the lone All- Catholic League pick from Hales.
This year, he is hitting .524, with 6 triples among his 33 hits, and 16 RBI while slowly rehabbing an ankle he turned in the first game of the year.
