George Ushela – Lyons Township High School

Lyons Township High School Head Coach George Ushella has 25 years of coaching experience with an overall Varsity Head Coaching record of 200-72-1 throughout 8 seasons. His Varsity coaching record with now team Lyons Township is 156-40-1 throughout 5 seasons there.

Throughout his career, Ushella has received various awards such 2002 IHSBCA summer coach of the year, 2003 IHSBCA “AA” coach of the year, 2003 ILLINOIS coaches association “AA” coach of the year, 2004 IHSBCA summer coach of the year, 2004 PITCH AND HIT CLUB OF CHICAGO high school coach of the year.

Ushella personally played ball throughout High School, at John Adam H.S. in South Bend, IN where he was an All-Star Pitcher in 1976. He then went on to play college ball at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN from 1977-180 where he earned honors as an All-Conference Pitcher in 1979.

And his final years of playing came on the Semi-Professional level for 16 seasons while he pitched for Stan Musial Amateur Leagues; pitching for the 1992 National Champion Lombard Orioles.

Ushella has also coached 25 years of girl’s High School Volleyball, 20 of which were at the varsity level, as well as one year of High School Freshman boy’s basketball.
